hacking as a way of life
hackers – the new aesthetic
steven levy paints a quaint picture of hackers pre-web 2.0, but now we’re officially past the dot-com bubble burst (what bubble burst anyway) and well into the “new economy.”
hacking nowadays, is essentially, taking some pre-existing thing and making it your own. hacking can be political or self-expression. whatever the purpose, the mode is the assumption of an a-priori existence.
a-priori – before this
something exists before i (or it). it is up to me now to reappropriate it.
new ideas thereby, come from hacking old ones.
