Bike Ride thru NYC – with Bike Camera Mount

i’ll be riding 55 miles among riders who are doing up to 100 miles in one day. i’ve been inspired by the work Robert Moon, Gian Pablo, and myself have been working on, so i’ve decided to Mount a video camera on the back of my bike.

I got the idea from a conversation Moon and I had, so I looked up how to do it:

Overall, my own setup is fairly simple and straightforward. I’m using a combo of bungee cords, towels, cardboard, and ziploc bags.

For progress reports, i’ll be updating throughout the day on my flickr feed.

Until then, buenas noches, bithez.

Misnomer Dance Video

Today is opening night of Misnomer’s Work at The Yard. I’ve been spending the entire month of July as a volgumentarist: documenting their work, taking pictures and building out the blog.

Below is a snippet of the dress rehearsal I shot and edited last night. The music is by Greg Brown.

I truly hope that this work will lead to a further dialogue. I know many people can not come out to Martha’s Vineyard to experience the work, so I will definitely be uploading more footage after the show is over. Hopefully, this work I am doing will build a larger appreciation for not only Misnomer, but for the field of dance.

WordPress is Cool

I recently taught a group of dancers how to use wordPress and integrate it with their flickr accounts. I was thinking I should make a screencast about this, but someone beat me to it.

freevlog

ShowInABox made a nice looking video screencast on how to use and install wordpress.

Pretty handy stuff.

You can see it here:

I saw this through the WordPress admin panel – this is just a general shoutout to express my love for WordPress and people who use it.

My First Dance Class Ever

This July, I am working with Misnomer as a video blogger and documentarian. This week, Chris Elam (the choreographer for Misnomer) is teaching a class at Concord Academy as part of Misnomer’s residency there. Dan Wagner (a former dancer for Merce Cunningham) is also teaching a class. I was lucky enough to be able to take his class. Here are some my first impressions:

Overall, it gave me a very different sense of what it is to be a dancer – you must really learn movements on whole: physically, emotionally, and mentally. I was having a very difficult time marking out the movements and remembering the choreography, so he suggested that I take note of what each movement felt like. That was a very different approach than I what would think from the outside.

Thank you, Dan.
